The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry has just become reigonal.

Huh? I know what you're thinking. Doesn't ESPN push the shit out of this rivalry as if it was the greatest thing ever? Well, yes.

But that being said? For a rivalry game to have National gravitas, there has to be an empathetic team. Or at the very least a super annoying team. This is why UNC-Duke has gravitas.

But now? The Red Sox have the fans from hell, and the Yankees? My dear sweet Yankees?

You keep hitting the Brewers with the screwjob. A part of the Sabathia trade was that the Brewers were going to get a #1 pick to otensibly replace LaPorta.

Bah.

So why am I still holding on to a chance at a Sabathia return?

I am not stupid. I know that 6/130 and he's a Giant. Or a Yankee. Or a Dodger.

But why can't the Brewers sign him?

1) It doesn't sound like he's fired up and ready to go into pinstripes.

Sabathia is a man who already has a wife and two kids. And the fact of the matter is that he seems to be a man who does not need the complications of life that time in New York would bring. Not to say that it's a bad thing. But it is to say that he may take a more laid back tack in terms of where he spends the prime of his career.

(And yes. This does mean California No Doubt About It As Well.)

2) Cost of Living...

The cost of buying the best place is a definite concern. Or it should be. A place on Strong Island is one thing. Kicking it with Audrinas is one thing. A place in Wauwatosa is something else entirely. It could be cost a seasons salary in the larger market for home alone.

And the best time of his professional life was in Milwaukee.

3) The next deal.

If I was his agent? I would take fewer years on this deal. A 4-year deal with little to no falloff in his play? He gets one more massive contract. A 6-year deal? He falls back to Zito Money.

Not saying. Just saying there's a chance.

HIT THE TWO-OUTER ONE TIME FOR AMERICA!

Mark Teixera vs. Prince Fielder...

So you're Anaheim. You have millions of dollars to spend on one free agent. The obvious choice? Mark Teixera. He's experienced. He's in his peak. And the Angels can afford him.

But let me postulate something. Why not go after CC Sabathia?

Sure, you'd lose out on Teixera. But that being said? All of the sudden, you'd get a Milwaukee Brewers desperate for a pitcher. Losing Sabathia and Sheets means you have a top starter in Gallardo with a knee issue, a #2 who is primed for injury in Parra. And your #3 is Dave Bush.

So that means at some point, Jeff Suppan could be your #2 starter. Scary right?

And you heard rumors of a Fielder for Matt Cain swap. It's there. It could happen. But the Angels could have an extra starter just lying around collecting dust if they picked up Sabathia.

So, you'd have the Brewers going after Jered Weaver, and the Angels would offer Ervin Santana. So, you could see Joe Saunders coming back to Milwaukee. Hell, they could throw in Howie Kendrick and lose nothing.

But the question is. Do you take the very consistent .300/.410/.550 and possibly re-up Jon Garland who did nothing but knock his value down and keep one of the younger guns. Or do you take the 25 year old whose already kissed a .600 slugging percentage and has essentially the same isolated eye as Teix and have a Sabathia/Lackey one two punch?

If I'm the Angels? I'd grab Sabathia. Sabathia, Lackey, Weaver, Santana, and Garland is a series winning rotation.

If Scosia avoids the sacrifice bunt.

Because now we've got an official confirmation that the Brewers are rolling out a trade package for C.C. Sabathia. Now, if the Brewers trade LaPorta and Alcides Escobar, I will feel a twinge of remorse. LaPorta is awesome, and all of Alcides Escobar's defensive human highlight reel prowess is now developing a nascent power game. There are other options the Brewers can bring forth to deal for Sabathia.

After all? The Brewers could decide to roll out with a J.J. Hardy. You know him. He's hitting in streaks and spurts. The fact that he's hitting for sexy time? It may be enough.

And the Indians do like Taylor Green. He's a Third Baseman in the Florida State League. He's a good hitter. Decent fielder. And the Brewers have options at the position.

Just please don't trade the excellent version of Erick Aybar please. Or do. I want Sabathia.

Here's the thing about C.C. Sabathia.

Now while I do believe that he's an interior crocodile alligator who would drive the Brewers Chevorlet Movie Theatre straight into NLCS town and after a potty break, get them into the World Series. But that's wishful thinking.

I honestly think Buster Olney had a thought exercise last week when he said that the Brewers were the #1 team in the Sabathia sweepstakes. Not saying it to hate? Just that the Brewers are the most perfect match to make a deal.

And you know what? I could live with it. I've got a history where Darrin Jackson and Pete Harnisch were the big bold moves in an attempt to put the Crew over the top.

But now? It's turning into a trickle. First me. Then Buster Olney. Then the Brewerfan faithful took up the Meme. And now?
