Do you know Phil Hellmuth?
If not? Ask him. He'll be happy to tell you all about his accomplishments. And when you play the tournament hold 'em, he can be able to play with come competency. But there are holes in his rep.
1. He is a giant douche.
2. He cannot play cash games.
3. He is associated with Ultimate Bet.
If you don't remember the whole Ultimate Bet thing? Read this.
But suffice it to say, Ultimate Bet is still around, and suffice it to say that Phil Hellmuth has a waft of a smoking gun coming from a hand of a pair of twos. Why? Because he won money from three of a kind.
So why may this be something more than a bug?
- PH (Hellmuth) has been on an epic upswing at limit hold-em. According to PH, he was on a 10-day winning streak, wth a $7M profit to show for it, when this hand happened
- Most knowledgable pros think PH isn't really very good at limit hold-em
- There have been multiple instances of UB/AP/Cereus software being rigged in the past
- PH has a very close relationship with UB (shill/sponsored/part-owner)
- As far as anyone can tell, this is the first time this bug has occurred
- During the hand in question, PH played T2s in a manner that some find highly questionable/donkish/suspicious
- PH at first ignored the incorrect outcome of the hand, then tried to brush it off
Could it be nothing? Maybe. But the fact of the matter is I will get this on the brag board. Online poker is burning. And it's a bad scenario.

Hey, do you remember my story about the duality of sweatpants and bentleys?
Sure you do.
Well, you notice how I got assistance from a dude named Steven Ware? I have a twist. Well, irony. Well, the two plus two forums have another story to tell...
3-4 weeks ago I (Adam Richardson) responded to Steve's post to trade his cash for online. He said that he had several offers but that he wanted to trade with me "because he knew he wouldn't get ripped off". I offered to fly back to Vegas to do the trade, since he was offering cash at no vig and I needed to pick up my ME tourney cash anyway. He said that wouldn't be necessary-- he could deposit directly into my bank account, so I offered to send first since he seemed like a stand-up guy. I send $30,000 to his FTP account (TheMatadorKGB); he didn't reciprocate. He said that he didn't leave his room all day and that he'd deposit in the morning. Then he disappears for two days, ignoring PMs and text msgs. On the third day leaves a message on my cell saying "well I'm sure you probably guessed what happened..."
He PM'd saying that he's a complete ******* and degenerate and that he blew the $30K at Bellagio. Promised to make good as soon as he got back to New Jersey in a day or two. Disappears for another 2 days. I tell him to send the $30K back via FTP immediately. He says he can't b/c he lost it to "Boosted's luckbox."
Mostly he ignores my PMs asking him what he's doing to repay. When he does respond, he has said that he would:
(i) Borrow from friends
(ii) Borrow from family
(iii) Sell everything he owns
(iv) Repay via advance from his upcoming book
(v) Repay in a month and a half when he can sell some stock
He tells me he's "doing everything he can" but hasn't paid back anything, not even some small good faith amount, despite there being a branch of my bank literally within walking distance from his house.
What has Steve done since he ripped me off on July 15th?
-- Continued posting about those "thieving bastards at UB".
-- Posted some interesting(?) strategy threads in MTT (one , two)
-- Challenged stealthmunk to a minimum $250K HU 4 ROLLZ
-- Helped make some web comics
What now?
I set up a reasonable $2.5K/week payment plan. The deadline for the first payment was yesterday, which I extended to today because he PM'd that he was getting a loan from his brother-in-law. He said he'd be in touch today to tell me what happened either way. Banks just closed on the East Coast and there is no deposit from Steve. Unsurprisingly, he hasn't PM'd or texted all day.
I have told him more than once that I will not allow him to steal from my family. My hope is that making this public will expediate the repayment process, but either way I am confident that I will recover the money. (plus any money I spend recovering the money) I've held off saying anything or filing a police report because I don't need to ruin the guy's life for something stupid that he did. But we've come to the point where he's taken advantage of my goodwill.
In the end, I honestly don't think that Steve is a bad guy. He's a (self-admitted) degenerate gambler who made a pretty terrible decision. However, he continues to compound the problem by avoiding contact with me and burying his head in the sand. He asked me not to out him on 2+2, but has promised to pay back what he took regardless of whether or not I do which is sort of honorable(?)
Steve-- in a short while I'm going to involve both the authorities and my attorneys. In my letter I laid out exactly what this will mean for you; I'd urge you to avoid it at all costs.
If Steven ignores this advice, I invite everyone to follow along...
(Adding the following from Admo):Steve wanted these posts taken down which I might have temporarily agreed to if there weren't other people involved. If Steven Ware owes you money, can you PM with with:
(a) the amount
(b) the circumstances
(c) your contact info (cell and email)
If you don't want to send your info to me, that's fine but I can reasonably guarantee that you'll have a better chance of repayment if my attorneys are involved. They handled a similar case for me two years ago, Richardson v. Bealls if you want to look it up in San Diego Superiour Court log. I was awarded a judgement included all damages including attorney's fees.
I promise not to share any of your information with anyone else.
I promise to share all of Steve's information with you. (including SSN, driver's license, home address, etc.)
Feel free to send any additional information you have about Steve.
****
I've been in contact with Steve several times throughout the day. He is a bit overwhelmed but still promises to make good. Frankly he doesn't have much of a choice. He continues to make bad decisions but he knows that the minute he breaks communication with me again he stands a good chance of being arrested. (You'll have to trust me on the details.)

Yep, Mr. Steven Ware got broke spending other peoples money. The self-styled iconoclast is nothing more than a degenerate. But that's what the poker boom did. Made a generation of college kids a bunch of degenerates.
And you know what? Adam Richardson's got his own degeneracies...
If he doesn't present an acceptable plan for repayment upon his return, he knows that I'm proceeding with criminal and civil actions, as well as launching StevenWareIsAThief.com which will contain our complete, unedited correspondence log. (There will be several prop bet opportunities for the armchair lawyers on what actions the various law enforcement agencies will take.)
Add that to offering anybody $20,000 that he's gonna get his money back?
This degeneracy is awesome.

It's the Grand National Championships Newsbreak...
Now, you can normally look at a youtube video and think to yourself the blogger is a lazypants. It happens. And yes, we often are lazy pants when we have a youtube video.
However, this is one of those one in a million shots. The dream achieved. You've discovered greatness. In YouTube form. This is chocolate rain. This is the dumb blond at the pageant.
The Grand National Championships proudly present...Man bets weed at Casino.
Fresno, California. Drug culture is rampant. And awesome.

Expanding further on the Duality of Sweatpants and Bentleys.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission is only one prong of the issues with Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet. And Steven Ware came up with a veritable copendium of crminial acts that the Mohawk Tribe (who run the KGC) have committed in the last decade.
From the smuggling of Drugs, Immigrants, and Tobacco to trying to establish themselves as a tax haven, to accusations of aboriginal extremism. This native tribe controls servers for three of the four major poker sites.
This is a definite worthwhile read. Click please.

There are plenty in this world whom would wish this poker fad dead...
And I can't say that I would blame them. Television poker holds minimal appeal. Many of the biggest names are personal as well as professional degenerates. And after Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet allowed for superuser accounts, you cannot say that online poker isn't rigged.
Sidebar: Of all the crap things ESPN has done recently, allowing ads from these sites is one of the worst.
But anyway? We're talking about things that would be good for poker, right? Well, there are 79 players left in this years WSOP. And while there are your professionals that you've heard of (Mike Matusow and Phil Hellmuth; both shortstacked), and professionals you haven't (David Rheem and Brandon Cantu; both chip healthy). there's really only one name that could be a shock to pokers system.

That is Tiffany Michelle. She is 5th place in chips to start the day. She is one of many aspiring Hollywood triple threats. But that's beside the point. The female poker player is a rare bird indeed. Most of them that you know about come from failing movie careers. There are talented professionals, but at this point they are all knocked out.
Tiffany Michelle is a young, attractive female who, if she can survive until early Tuesday morning, will goose the game's numbers back up. A female Moneymaker if you will. Not to say that it might not be an artifical bump, the social skills of many poker dudes can be nascent at best. But the fact of the matter is this...
From late tomorrow night, the final table doesn't play down until November. It may be gimmickry, it may be artifical, but like any reality show, there will be television time for every contestant who wants it. And Miss Michelle is an aspiring dual threat, right? So she will be going for the brass ring if she gets there.
And with quotes like this?
UPDATE: Coming out of the dinner break with 44 players left, Tiffany Michelle is 4th in Chips. Brandon Cantu is 3rd. And Mike Matusow? He's 17th.
UPDATE II: Tiffany Michelle up to 7.3 million in chips. Brandon Cantu is YOUR chip leader. And Mike Matusow? He's 16th.
UPDATE III: ESPN execs are praying for a Tiffany Michelle final table. Is the fix in? Maybe not, but Matusow is out in 30th.

You don't think she'll be the spunky female ambassador for poker if she can get there?

Hellmuth Ends The Day With A Blow Up
Cristian Dragomir opened with a raise to 80,000 before Hellmuth made it 255,000 to go from the small blind."I hope he doesn't have aces" said Hellmuth as Dragomir asked for a count. After a few moments later Dragomir made the call.
They saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Hellmuth checked to Dragomir who thought for a moment before firing a healthy bet of 300,000. Hellmuth sighed in disgust before folding {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} face up on the table.
Matusow laughs and said to Dragomir to show the bluff, and Dragomir flipped {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}! Matusow and the crowd roared in hysterics as Hellmuth jumped out of his seat and stormed around the room berating his opponent for calling his reraise with ten-high.
"Listen buddy, you're an idiot!" screamed Hellmuth "This is the Main Event and you are the worst player in history!" as the crowd were loving every moment of the blow up.
Dragomir's entourage continued to cheer as Hellmuth continued the barrage. The TD stepped in and issued a warning to Hellmuth to settle down before Dragomir stood up out of his chair to put Hellmuth back in his place with a cry of "Enough is enough!
"Fortunately for both players the clock ticked over to the end of the level, and the end of the day's play to settle both players down. They eventually shook hands and began to bag up their chips as Mike Matusow summed up the situation best as he shouted "Thank God for Phil Hellmuth! Thank God for Chris Moneymaker!"
What a way to end the day!
But wait...there's more!
Everyone thought Hellmuth ended the day just with a blow-up and a warning, but that's not the case. He continued to berate Cristian Dragomir for several minutes after the last hand we described and after floor person Robbie Thompson issued him a warning, prompting Thompson to summon supervisor Steve Frezer to the feature table. Frezer listened to Thompson's description of the situation and then assess Hellmuth a one-orbit penalty to start Day 6.
Never a dull moment when Hellmuth's around.
CUT TO:
INT. RIO - DAY 6
Just before the announcement of "shuffle up and deal," Hellmuth strolled into the tournament area and took his seat. He was dealt into the first hand which he raised from under the gun, winning the blinds and antes.
When a floor supervisor was asked about the alleged one round penalty Hellmuth was to serve, a reply of "it's been overruled" was given.
-------------------------------------------------------
What does this little stage play tell us? That in poker, fame gives you every excuse to act like a little bitch and get away with it. Now in other walks of life, we know this to be true, but to have such on the job douchebaggery sans punsihment?
