So the Space Mullet did it.

And Mazel Tov and L'Chaim to him for it. He extended his career by three years beyond the ace point to get it done. But unlike Dale Murphy, he got there. (And as a sidebar? Dale Murphy hanging on to get stuck at 399 dingers is probably what kept him out of the Hall).

But what you don't know? I debated Moynahan about the whens, whys, and wherefores of the next 300 game winner. And he says it will happen in the next decade. And I was like, no. It will take 25 years or even more.

It comes and goes in cycles, see? In the early part of the last century, we were rich with 300 game winners. And then from 1925 to 1984? There was a handful. These last 25 years? Another freaking bonanza.

But Randy Johnson will be it for a while. In the most depressing setting imaginable. Randy Johnson will be the end of a good run. I know what you're thinking. What about a dude like Roy Halladay? C.C. Sabathia is a man with power and wins? Hell, if Moyer can get to Age 46, why not Pettite?

Here's the thing. 300 is long odds. It's a big fucking forest to go through to find 300 win cabin. It's going to happen again, probably in your lifetime. But you know what?

It's going to take a few years to see it coming.
